Man Survives On Taco Bell Sauce Packets While Stranded in Snow For 5 Days

Man lost in snow for five days survived on Taco Bell sauce packets

A man who became stranded in Central Oregon for five days says he able to survive by eating taco sauce packets and occasionally using his car's heater to stay warm.

Jeremy Taylor, 36, was last seen on Feb. 24 getting gas in Sunriver, in Central Oregon where they've been dealing with a series of snowstorms in recent weeks.

Fortunately for Taylor, a snowmobiler out enjoying the fresh powder happened across his stranded Jeep Wrangler on March 1. Sgt. William Bailey, the spokesman for the Deschutes County Sheriff's Officer said rescue teams had use a large snow tractor to bring him out of the woods.

The avid outdoors man told rescuers that he and his dog, Ally, became stuck in deep snow while driving down a U.S. Forest Service road on Feb. 24. After sleeping in his car for the night, he woke to see more snow had fallen. Taylor and Ally attempted to hike out, but returned to the vehicle after it became clear the snow was too deep to get out. Taylor stayed warm over the next few days by occasionally starting up his vehicle and eating a few taco sauce packets he had as food.

"Thank you everyone, I'm safe my Ally dog is safe. I really appreciate all the help. Got lucky, lets (sic) never do that again. I'll be in touch with everyone soon," he wrote on his Facebook page late Friday.

In response to a friend's comment about how Taylor survived by eating three Taco Bell Hot Sauce packets during his ordeal, he wrote: "Taco Bell fire sauce saves lives!"

Taylor and his dog, Ally, were both in good health, but very hungry authorities said.
