Kamala Harris became the first Indian-American and first Black woman to run for vice president on a major party ticket.
The California Senator and VP nominee is making sure she does it in style.
Harris put her best foot forward on the campaign trail in Milwaukee, high-stepping in a pair of classic black, low-rise Chuck Taylor All-Stars instead of the heels. Harris’ shoe choice hit the ground running on social media, gaining three million views on Twitter.
The democratic VP nominee delivered a plan of action like a star in her star shoes.
“On September 17 you’re going to get your ballots,” Harris said to the cheering crowd in Milwaukee. “October 20, early voting starts – that’s my birthday. So, I need your help, okay?”
Harris' shoe choice wasn't a ploy to gain attention. According to Harris' sister, Maya, Chuck Taylors are her sister’s “go-to” shoes. After her sneakers took off on Twitter, Harris’s official campaign account tweeted the video with the caption “laced up and ready to win."
